New Disabled PHP Functions to Secure Your Account

As part of our commitment to provide a stable and secure hosting infrastructure, Web Hosting Canada has recently updated its system configurations on all shared hosting accounts and is now disabling by default several PHP functions that may cause security problems.

The following functions have now been disabled:

show_source, system, shell_exec, passthru, exec, popen, proc_open
In most cases, this change will not impact your web site or its features. However, if you web site or applications do use any of the above-mentioned functions and the change impacts your account, you may easily re-enable any of these functions by following the instructions detailed in our knowledge base, at: http://clients.whc.ca/knowledgebase/1002/Increase-PHP-Upload-Limit-or-any-other-PHP-setting.html

As always, if you require assistance please contact our friendly customer support team.
