Domains can now earn you commissions

If you ever recommend WHC to a friend, a client, or your audience, make sure you do it through one of our two referral programs to earn rewards. 

Here's what's new: domain names became eligible for affiliate commissions in June 2026. Every domain you refer earns you money, on top of everything you were already earning.

Two ways to get rewarded

A lot of people recommend WHC without realizing there are two different ways to get rewarded for it.

Refer a Friend is the casual one. Share your link, and when your friend signs up for a yearly hosting plan and stays with us for 45 days, you both get 3 months of free hosting. No setup, no website needed. The reward comes as hosting credit.

The Affiliate Program is built for ongoing promotion. You earn cash commissions on qualifying new orders across most WHC products, and you can share your link anywhere: your site, your newsletter, your social channels. It's the better fit if you're recommending WHC to an audience.

You can be part of both.

How the domain commission works

The mechanics are simple:

• You earn $1 for every domain you refer. A flat commission, per domain.
• It covers the extensions people actually register: .com, .ca, .net, .org, .biz, and .info.
• It applies to new registrations and transfers. Renewals aren't included.
• Commissions confirm 60 days after the purchase, same as our other products.

One thing to keep in mind: you can't refer yourself. The commission is for domains you refer to other people, not for names you register on your own account.

The part that actually adds up

The real win isn't the dollar. It's the stack.

You can now earn two commissions on a single order. If someone you refer buys a hosting plan and grabs a domain in the same checkout, you earn the hosting commission and the domain commission. That wasn't possible before.

Referred on its own, or bundled with hosting, email, or anything else, the domain counts either way.

Hosting is where the commission gets bigger

Domains are the new easy win. They stack onto almost any referral, and a dollar adds up fast when you're sending real volume.

But if you're deciding what to put in front of your audience, hosting is the anchor. A qualifying hosting plan pays between $25 and $100, depending on the plan. That's a single referral worth as much as dozens of domains, and hosting is what most of the people you refer need to get online in the first place.

The move that pays best: point people to a plan, and let them grab their domain in the same checkout. You earn the bigger hosting commission and the $1 domain commission on one order, from one click.

How to start

You don't need to change anything in your account. Your existing affiliate links already cover domains.

If you want to send people straight to the right spot, use the Sales Funnel feature in your affiliate dashboard. It generates a link that lands your audience directly on the domain search and registration page. Just pick "Domain Name" as the target product.

Then do what you already do well. Share your link. Update your site, post it to your audience, send it to the people who've been meaning to register a name and haven't gotten around to it.
