PodCamp Toronto: Where Canadian Voices Connect
Canada has a way of creating standout content. Think Schitt’s Creek. Denis Villeneuve. We’ve got the creativity, the talent, and the drive. And when it comes to podcasts, it’s no different. Canada has incredible podcasts, made right here at home. And the world needs more of them.
That's exactly why PodCamp Toronto exists. Every year, podcasters from across Canada come together to learn, share, and grow their projects. This year, WHC was there as a proud sponsor, alongside the legendary Amber Mac and Javon from Papr Maché. The goal? Support the voices shaping Canada’s podcasting landscape.

The world needs more Canadian podcasts
Podcasting in Canada is alive and growing. According to recent industry insights, more Canadians are tuning in, new voices are emerging, and the country’s podcasting scene is stronger than ever. And that’s a win in our mind. Because we can all agree that the world right now could use more Canada.
That energy was everywhere at PodCamp. We met Canadian creators covering everything from Indigenous perspectives to business, true crime, sports, comedy, and Francophone culture. Voices that are heard not just across Canada, but around the world. And we need more of them.
The best way to help? Listen to them. Share them. Support Canadian podcasters.
What is PodCamp Toronto?
PodCamp Toronto is Canada’s biggest podcasting event. It’s a space where beginners, veterans, and media professionals come together to sharpen their skills and connect. Whether someone is launching their first episode or celebrating their 100th, PodCamp is where they go to learn, grow, and reach new audiences.
Since launching in 2007, it’s become a premier event for podcasters, content creators, and digital media experts. It’s proof that podcasting in Canada isn’t just alive—it’s thriving.
At PodCamp, we met passionate creators from all over the country. Some were just starting out, testing their ideas, and learning the ropes. Others had built strong audiences and were looking to take their podcasts to the next level. What connected them all? A shared love for storytelling and a belief that podcasting is one of the most powerful ways to connect with an audience.

John Leschinski: the heart behind PodCamp
Every great event has a great team behind it. At PodCamp, that team includes John Leschinski, who’s been leading the event for 11 years. He started as a graphic designer and eventually took over to keep the event running strong.
In the early days, PodCamp focused more on marketing and social media. Now? Podcasting has taken centre stage. More creators are turning to podcasting to share their expertise, build their brand, and connect with their communities.
John’s biggest advice? Just start.
People wait for the perfect setup, the perfect episode, the perfect moment. But you’ll never know what your podcast can be unless you put it out there. Podcasting isn’t always a full-time job, but it’s a passion that can grow into something bigger.
His perspective was echoed by many at PodCamp: A podcast doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful. The most important step is simply to begin.

Canadian podcasts: louder, please!
One of the biggest takeaways from PodCamp was how much incredible Canadian content is out there, but how little recognition it gets. Unlike in the U.S., where podcasting is a booming industry, many Canadian podcasters operate independently and rely on community support and word-of-mouth to grow their audiences.
That’s why it’s so important to highlight and celebrate the voices shaping Canada’s podcasting landscape. Whether it’s an emerging creator or an established show, every listener, share, and review helps amplify Canadian stories.

Final thoughts: more Canadian voices, more impact
PodCamp Toronto reminded us of something important: Canada is full of storytellers. Whether you’re a podcaster, writer, business owner, or listener, we all have a role in strengthening Canadian content.
And if there’s one thing John made clear, it’s this: every creator needs their own website.
You’re stuck at the whims of whatever billionaire buys the social media platform you’re using. A website gives you control over your brand and audience.
For podcasters—and anyone else with an idea worth sharing—a website is more than just a place to host content. It’s a platform you own, a hub for your audience, and a way to make sure your voice is always heard.
At WHC, we’re here to help. Whether you’re launching a podcast, blog, or business, it all starts with choosing a domain name and web hosting.
